I received an email from virusalert@ozonline.com.au that says VIRUS (name) Detected in Mail. What does this mean?

Our automatic email virus scanning detected a virus in an email being delivered to your mailbox. The infected email was discarded, and in its place you receive this notification email. The notification tells you the name of the virus. The notification might also tell you the email address the infected virus came from, but email addresses on virus emails are sometimes forged, so do not be surprised if you do not recognise the sender. Read more about our automatic email virus scanning.

I received an email from postmaster@mailscanner.ozonline.com.au that says VIRUS (name) IN YOUR MAIL. What does this mean?

Australia On Line email accounts might have automatic virus scanning enabled, which checks for viruses in all email received by the account. If you have received this notification email, an email sent from your email address was infected with a virus. Please obtain a virus scanning program, update it to the latest database, and scan your computer for viruses. Sometimes email addresses on virus emails are forged, so it is possible that you don't actually have a virus on your computer, but that somebody else sent out the virus using your email address. Read more about our automatic email virus scanning.
