Setup the internet on Microsoft Windows.

System Requirements

  • USB 2 port (Type A)
  • A SIM card with an Australia On Line 3G mobile broadband internet plan
  • One of:

    • Windows XP SP2 (Service Pack 2)
    • Windows 2000 SP4 (Service Pack 4)
    • Windows Vista
  • Display resolution of 800 by 600 or higher

  5. Optional external antenna connection

Installing the SIM card

Installing the SIM card.

  1. Remove the end-cap from the USB modem.
  2. Remove the SIM card slot located above the USB connector.
  3. Insert the SIM card into the card slot.
  4. Return the card slot to the USB modem.

Installing the USB modem

  1. Turn your computer on.
  2. Wait until Microsoft Windows has completely loaded.
  3. Plug the modem into your computer:

    Option A

    Plug the modem USB interface directly into any USB port on your computer.

    Option B (for improved signal quality)

    Connect the modem USB interface to the supplied USB cable.

    Plug the other end of the USB cable to any USB port on your computer.

  4. After you plug the modem or cable into your computer, the computer will automatically detect the new device.
  5. The computer will automatically install the driver software.
  6. After the computer installs the software, close any messages.
    Close the 'Your devices are ready to use' message.
  7. You will see the Wireless Broadband Setup Wizard:

  8. If you do not see the Wireless Broadband Setup Wizard:
    • Go to My Computer (on Windows XP); or
      Go to Computer (on Windows Vista)
    • In the removable storage section, double-click the Wireless BB icon:

  9. Read the license agreement.
  10. Click I Agree to agree to the license agreement and continue.

  11. Click Next to choose the common install location.
    Choose Install Location.
  12. Click Install to choose the common start menu folder.
    Choose Start Menu Folder.
  13. The wireless broadband software will then setup on your computer.
  14. Click Finish when the setup is complete.

  15. On your desktop, double-click the Wireless Broadband icon.

  16. Type your service provider code 357i4 in and click OK to activate.
    Please enter SP code.

Connecting to Australia On Line

  1. On your desktop, double-click the Wireless Broadband icon.

  2. Click Connect on the Wireless Broadband screen.
    Wireless Broadband connect.
  3. The Wireless Broadband will then connect and authenticate with the service.
  4. You are now connected to the internet.
  5. When connected, the Connect button on the Wireless Broadband window becomes a Disconnect button.
  6. Disconnection will only occur if:
    • the Disconnect button on the Wireless Broadband window is clicked
    • the modem loses signal
    • the computer shuts down or "sleep" mode is activated
